Email marketing—it’s the bedrock of your business efforts in a highly globalized digital world. If you want to milk it for all it’s worth, then you need Moosend!
With full email automation, Moosend reviews your input and adapts to help you generate leads, convert them into customers, then follow-up for maximum customer retention.
Let’s see how it achieves all that below in our review.
What Is Moosend
With automated workflows, a range of templates, and space for five team members, Moosend is email marketing software that makes constructing campaigns easy.
The team behind the program works around the clock to ensure a high delivery rate and deliverability for your emails.
Keep reading our Moosend review to find out about its best features.
Moosend Best Features
Moosend has a compact structure with all its features focusing on generating leads. It allows you to communicate with them and analyze your campaigns’ performance to achieve the best conversion rate optimization (CRO).
Integrations aren’t Moosend’s strongest point, so we don’t discuss them separately. They are mentioned throughout the text in relation to other features where applicable.
Moosend Free Plan
The free plan is generous. For one thing, it allows white labeling—the ability to use your own branding instead of Moosend’s. This feature is normally reserved for paid plans with most services.
This package also gives you unlimited emails, access to analytics, and a limit of 1,000 subscribers. The best part is that unsubscribed contacts don’t count towards the limit, which is again the case with many other providers.
Email Automation
The Moosend autoresponder is at the core of this automation tool. With it, you can select a pre-built workflow to run a campaign or create your own. Autoresponse emails designed by you will be sent out on schedule and after visitor engagement.
The system allows for a personalized experience for your visitors with email segmentation into demographic categories. Moosend even has AI commerce functionality where it'll detect users with similar tastes in order to market to them accordingly.
Lead Generation
The Moosend app keeps lead generation simple yet effective with landing pages and subscription forms. You can also capture leads for organic mail list building—this is crucial to deliverability, which Moosend prides itself on.
If lead generation is key to your marketing campaign, but you’re not sure how to approach it, you can also pick a lead generation company to help you with that.
Moosend also offers a few landing page templates to choose from and a handful of subscription forms. These can be edited to your liking in Moosend’s drag-and-drop editor.
And if you want to further optimize your landing page, check out our selection of the best landing page builders.
Moosend Builders
The emails for your Moosend campaigns are created in the drag-and-drop editor. It has everything you need. Just click on the elements you want, slot them in, and adjust them to your liking.
You can launch the drag-and-drop editor directly from the campaign builder as needed. A neat feature we appreciated was the ability to skip certain steps in the campaign plan and choose what to work on at any time.
Progress on projects is saved automatically.
All that said, the builders aren’t perfect. We cover some of the downsides near the end of our Moosend review.
Moosend Templates
With over 60 templates, Moosend doesn’t have the biggest collection. However, they all look good and are distinct.
Moosend doesn’t fall into the trap of offering hundreds of repetitive options.
To customize your emails, you can draw images and gifs from public repositories, upload your own, or get them directly from your social media accounts for brand consistency. Your Moosend email can be created in HTML & plain text.
We at Web Tribunal really liked the preview function because it doesn’t autoload templates that cause messy merging. Plus, you can switch between mobile and desktop views quickly.
Split Testing
The Moosend systems offer split testing even with the free plan, which is rare. Run a split test campaign to figure out which elements are stoking the best user engagement.
Select the size of your test pools and designate how many people will receive the winning variation (up to a maximum of 90% of your list).
Tests can be run from one to 24 hours. You can decide whether the winner is picked by unique clicks or opens. Like all Moosend campaigns, you can choose to have Google Analytics track the activity. But those aren’t the only analytics available.
Moosend Analytics
Moosend offers reporting on the activity of your subscribers. The reports are broken down into five categories—overview, recipient activity, link performance, device tracking, and location.
- Overview - It gives you an overall picture of your emails’ KPIs, such as unique clicks, opens, and bounces.
- Recipient activity - Gain insight into how each recipient on your mailing list has interacted with your messages.
- Link performance - Moosend reviews your email’s links and provides “click maps” to show how often they’re being interacted with.
- Device tracking - Learn which devices your customers are using so you can prioritize formatting if need be.
- Location - See where your subscribers come from. If a particular campaign seems to do well in a certain region, you can focus on that demographic.
Moosend Deliverability
Many people confuse “deliverability” and “delivery rate.” Delivery rate measures how many of your emails are being delivered. Deliverability measures how many of those are making it to an inbox and not the spam folder.
To ensure high deliverability, Moosend constantly reviews your subscriber count. If you reach a high volume, Moosend will assign you a dedicated IP.
It also considers where your contacts come from. Bought lists are a big no-no—you have to be sure your subscribers actually want to hear from you.
Buying lists means you can easily get caught by spam traps. Moosend reviews blacklists and will notify you if this happens.
One independent audit reports that Moosend has a deliverability rate of 89% as of March 2022. Although that’s not the industry’s highest score, it is still a pretty good result.
What We Disliked
With everything being peachy so far, you may be getting suspicious. Is this service really that perfect?
Well, it comes pretty close, but we did notice a few shortcomings.
Let’s see what these are:
Integrations - Too Many or Too Few?
Moosend isn’t strong in the integration department—only 18 native integrations are available. You can add more with Zapier, but don’t be fooled by the “1,000s of integrations” stock description.
You can make use of a little over 120 in total. It’s not a big deal, though, as the automated responder is perfect for beginners who probably won’t need that many anyway.
And Moosend offers a WordPress plug-in, which is already what most beginners are looking for.
Slow Browser-Based App
There’s no way to get around it, the Moosend application is slow. We noticed that creating pages, setting up workflow triggers, navigating the site, and using the builders is not as fast compared to other autoresponder software we’ve used.
Some elements can also be unresponsive at times. While learning how to use Moosend, we often found ourselves clicking on something with no indication of whether anything happened.
Sometimes it didn’t register; other times, the effect was delayed, leading to double clicks, misclicks, and other mistakes.
Moosend Pricing Plans
Moosend offers three price plans—Trial, Pro, and Enterprise. You get a 20% Moosend discount if you opt for annual payments and a 15% discount for biannual payments.
This plan has everything you need to test the service, except landing pages and the ability to add teammates to your projects.
This plan has everything besides a dedicated account manager. It also gives you a subscriber allowance of 500 but you can scale up easily.. 1,000 subscribers raise the monthly Moosend cost to $13, 5,000 increase it to $38, 10,000 to $70, and so on up to 1M subscribers for $4,672/month. The discounts still apply by percentage no matter the limit you select.
This plan has no set price. To get it, you have to contact sales. Aside from everything mentioned, this plan also gives you ten teammate slots, access to custom reports, SSO, an account manager, and a service level agreement with Moosend.
Moosend offers a pay-as-you-go option—purchase credits and only spend them when you send emails.
Moosend Customer Service
Our experience with the Moosend support team was fantastic. We wanted to find out how subscriber limits are calculated and confirm whitelisting for the free plan.
We submitted a ticket and the response arrived as quickly as a human agent is capable of typing. The agent was friendly, answered our questions in full, and even referred us to some extra materials to learn more.
Other users also praise customer support reps in their Moosend reviews on rating sites. Let’s see what else they have to say about the service.
Moosend User Reviews
The general outlook on Moosend is favorable. Users appreciate the good customer support, the generosity of the free plan, as well as the pay-as-you-go system. Moosend has a rating of 4.8/5 stars on Capterra, 4.7/5 on G2, and 8.6/10 on TrustRadius.
However, it only sports 2.8/5 on TrustPilot.
Most of the complaints are related to the aesthetic of the service. Many users feel that the site looks outdated. We’ll admit it’s a lot heftier than the sleek pastel-colored services we’re used to, but it’s not a huge inconvenience.
A couple of users also complained about some misunderstandings when switching from the free to the paid plan.
We looked for Moosend reviews on Reddit but couldn’t find much except general mentions of it being a good choice with emphasis on the free plan.
Is Moosend Worth It?
Moosend is definitely worth it. The free plan is one of the strongest we’ve seen for email automation. Most autoresponder software usually reserve the features included in it for paid plans.
The Pro Plan is cheap and, in a similar fashion, includes some tools that you’d have to pay extra for with other services.
That said, it does lack integrations and the website is slow and unresponsive at times.
With that in mind, let’s head into the final section of our Moosend review for 2022 to see how other autoresponders perform compared to it.
Moosend Alternatives
If you’re not sold on Moosend and are looking for greener pastures, consider some of the best autoresponder tools in 2022.
MailChimp vs Moosend
MailChimp is the leader of email marketing services. It has Moosend beat in terms of the number of integrations and the responsiveness of its site.
Moosend’s strongest advantages are its free plan and the low costs.
Constant Contact vs Moosend
Constant Contact is a better platform for larger organizations. It offers discounts to nonprofits as well as the ability to create online polls.
Moosend is still the better free/cheap option for individuals and small companies. However, businesses would be better off with Constant Contact.
Moosend vs GetResponse
GetResponse focuses more on traditional marketing features such as pay-per-click advertising and sales funnel use. It is far more expensive than Moosend, but it’s also more extensive.
If you’ve already got a solid marketing strategy in place and want to move online, GetResponse is the better option.
Our Final Veredict
That does it for our Moosend review!
Moosend is an email marketing service with a great free plan and cheap paid options. It’s perfect for individual use and small teams—it’ll help you provide excellent customer service and build trust with your clients.
What it lacks in integrations, it makes up for with the quality of its services.
Moosend is used to create and manage email marketing campaigns. It provides the means to create visual workflows, manage your subscriber lists, and review the performance of your emails in order to fine-tune them.
Moosend has both free and paid options. The free plan is one of the best on the market, packing features that’d normally cost extra, such as full white labeling.
For a more detailed description of the subscriptions, check out the pricing section of this review.
Overall, MailChimp still reigns supreme. Moosend is better if you want a free email automation platform or premium features at a cheaper rate.
The cheapest paid plan is $8 a month if you opt for an annual subscription. A pay-as-you-go option is also available.
With it, you can buy credits—Moosend reviews your activity and only claims them when you send emails. More information on the price plans is available above.
