Ivacy VPN Review - Affordable Service Without the Fluff Image Visit Website
The issue with many VPN services is their price. Not everyone needs some super expensive, unbreakable solution. Home users, for one, don’t want anything too fancy. They usually just need an affordable service that lets them stream Netflix from the comfort of their homes. This is something that Ivacy tackles well. With many pros but also many cons, Ivacy VPN receives reviews that are all over the place, making it a hard VPN to evaluate solely based on reputation. In this review, we use speed metrics and hard data to draw conclusions and see whether it is worth it.

Strengths

Ivacy is for anyone who values an affordable price above all.

For every type of device, there is a corresponding Ivacy VPN extension.

Ivacy VPN Features

To start things off, let’s see what this service does and does not offer in terms of features.

Ivacy VPN Mobile Trial

Right off the bat, it’s important to mention that there is no free version of Ivacy VPN.

Seemingly, this is not that bad, as free versions come with limitations anyway. This also puts a bigger focus on making traffic as clear as possible for paid users.

On the other side, Ivacy VPN iOS and Android versions do have free 7-day trials.

Although it is not officially advertised, you can opt for a 3-day or 7-day trial on other devices. Even that is not free, and it requires you to contact Ivacy to find out more.

Cross-platform VPN

Besides Android and iOS versions, as far as the main roster goes, Ivacy VPN is available on Linux, Mac, and Windows. Chrome and Firefox add-ons are also a nice touch.

When it comes to the type of devices a VPN works on, Ivacy is unrivaled. It has versions for Kodi, Roku, Smart TV, Android TV, Blackberry, Xbox, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4.

There also is Ivacy on Firestick, but it is not well received by users because it doesn’t work well most of the time.

If you are on the lookout for the best free VPN for Firestick, Ivacy is not the right choice.

Number of Devices

All versions of this VPN work on up to 5 devices at the same time. If you would like to make a jump to 10 devices, you need to discuss that with Ivacy via email.

Points of Access

With over 2,000 servers at your disposal, Ivacy has an impressive server list.

Split Tunneling

The only client of this VPN to support split tunneling is the Windows one, but at least setting it up is fairly easy.

You just need to make sure you’re running it as an administrator.

Surfing through Chinese Websites

Ivacy Prime, an app that is specifically made to avoid the harsh censorship that China enforces, does the trick rather well.

This feature is only available on the Ivacy VPN Android and Windows versions.

Ivacy VPN Security

While it does not fall under the 14 eyes jurisdiction (SSEUR), Singapore, where Ivacy VPN is situated, is a country that is known for informally cooperating with them.

Are the other security features robust enough?

Logging Policy

Thanks to its strict zero-log policy, Ivacy VPN does not bother to store or review usage logs at all.

Security Protocols

Security is a massive deal, and not all VPNs are built the same here.

If a variety of encryption methods and a tunneling protocol is what you are looking for in a VPN service, you should download Ivacy VPN.

On top of both TCP and UDP OpenVPN protocols, it supports IKEv, IPSEC, L2TP, SSTP, and even point-to-point connection.

Killswitch

The VPN also comes with an automatic killswitch that will block all traffic if a server accidentally disconnects.

We didn’t experience any drops while testing the service, but according to user reviews of Ivacy VPN, the killswitch occasionally does not work, which poses a cybersecurity risk.

Encryption

This service protects your online footprint by using AES-256, military-grade encryption, known as the best encryption method out there.

Bitcoin Payments

Ivacy VPN supports the possibility of bitcoin payments, but crypto transactions are not refundable.

Speed

For a service with no free version, we were mostly disappointed with the Ivacy VPN speed. Not only does it decrease by more than 50%, it can drop much more when you work with very remote servers. We tested first a Miami location and our internet speed was halved.

As the Indonesian server tests suggested, it gets worse with an even bigger distance.

Speed inconsistency among locations was expected, but the differences were rather stark. We tried connecting to a French server from a European location, and it fared better, but the drop from the base speed was substantial, at just about 40%.

If you're interested in a more speed-oriented VPN, you can check out what ProtonVPN offers.

Ease of Use

This VPN is rather easy to use, but we weren’t impressed with its interface.

It has a lot of pop-up windows before you connect, and having to manually disconnect the VPN before you close it is irritating, even though it takes a few seconds.

It’s not terrible, but Ivacy VPN isn't as user-friendly as, let's say, Virtual Shield VPN.

Streaming

Ivacy VPN is good for streaming Netflix as hiccups are very rare, and it supports a solid number of its libraries.

The supported regions include the US, Canada, UK, Germany, Australia, France, and Japan.

It can also stream Disney+, Amazon Prime, BBC iPlayer, and Hulu.

Torrenting

Torrenting is seamless on Ivacy VPN but only on dedicated servers. Both uTorrent and BitTorrent are supported, and so is the somewhat less popular Deluge. Better yet, port forwarding is available, a big plus in this regard.

Plans & Pricing

Ivacy VPN has a very affordable price, even more so when you catch a good deal.

It has available deals so often, however, that hardly anyone knows how much plans besides the first two actually cost.

Because all Ivacy VPN reviews show different prices for those, here is a list of plans at the time of this writing.

One month
$9.95/month

If you want to use this VPN for a month with no limitations, it will cost you $9.95 a month. Due to its duration, the money-back guarantee for this plan only lasts 7 days. Luckily, the cost of Ivacy VPN gets much better with bigger plans.

One year
$2.41/month

For $29 a year, which comes to only $2.41 a month, you get to use Ivacy for an entire year. There is a 30-day money-back guarantee for this and all larger plans.

Two years
$1.99/month

There is currently an offer for a 2-year plan that costs only $47.76 dollars, but it is only there for a limited time.

Since the 1-year plan is a regular one, it’s already safe to say that Ivacy VPN really is cheap. What’s even cheaper, though, is the Ivacy VPN lifetime subscription plan.

Its discounted price is $39.99 for 5 devices and $60.00 for 10. Still, since this is not available on the official website, you’re better off asking the sales team directly.

Support

This VPN has live 24/7 customer support most people are satisfied with, claiming that it’s professional and will go out of their way to help you. You can also just send them a ticket or contact them via email if that is what you prefer. It’s a shame there is no Ivacy VPN community on Reddit, just reviews on the general VPN subreddits.

The real catch is that all of this only stands as long as you’re not coming to customer support with a refund request.

Here is why.

Ivacy VPN User Reviews

This is where things get hectic, as people seem to either love or hate this VPN. Those that love it praise its security and low price. Those that hate it, seem to hate its speed and customer support.

The thing with this service is that while it works normally for some, it doesn’t for others.

To make things worse, those that have asked for a refund usually did not get it.

There are many Ivacy VPN reviews on Reddit claiming that customer support just delayed the whole process, or never even went through with it.

When to Use Ivacy VPN

Ivacy VPN is great for its low price and its wide array of supported devices.

It is excellent for casual personal use as it protects and grants access without breaking the bank.

Ivacy VPN Alternatives

If you’re still considering starting off 2022 with this service after all the Ivacy VPN reviews, perhaps some comparisons with its alternatives will help you decide.

Ivacy vs PureVPN

These two VPNs are similar in terms of features, but Ivacy VPN edges it. PureVPN might be better than Ivacy VPN for P2P file sharing, but it is much worse in terms of security, which is already enough for it to lose credibility.

Ivacy vs ExpressVPN

Both of these services offer good security overall, but ExpressVPN has a greater array of services.

On the other hand, Ivacy leads the way with its price and superior Android application.

Ivacy vs NordVPN

NordVPN is one of the biggest VPN services out there. It has plenty of features and decent speeds, but Ivacy is much more affordable.

On top of that, it can work on up to 10 devices at a time.

Final Verdict

So, is Ivacy VPN any good?

At first glance, it seems like it has it all – a low price, top-notch security, and some really positive feedback from customers. Our data-driven approach revealed that the customer support is lackluster and the speed sluggish.

It is not one of the top 10 VPN services in terms of speed, but its discounted price alone makes it worth considering. If you’re looking for a cheap VPN service for a device with little support and excellent security, Ivacy is a good choice.

Make sure to get the trial version first and see how it goes from there, or just download a free VPN instead.

FAQ
How to use Ivacy VPN?

It is very easy to use as there is not much to figure out. Just open it, choose a network, establish an encrypted connection, and hit its power button to connect.

How much does Ivacy VPN cost?

That depends on how long your subscription period gets to be. A one-month plan costs $10, but if you find a good deal, a lifetime license can cost as little as $40!

Is Ivacy VPN safe?

It is. Its Singapore jurisdiction might raise some questions, but the fact of the matter is that Ivacy VPN reviews, records or reveals nothing of users’ activity.

Is Ivacy VPN good for Netflix?

Yes. It supports 7 huge regions and works like a charm.

Is Ivacy VPN better than NordVPN?

NordVPN is an excellent service with plenty of advantages. However, if you need a simple secure connection that doesn’t log any activity and costs just about a beer per month, Ivacy VPN is an excellent choice.
